Exercise: test your core message
Does your core message work? It is almost impossible to decide for yourself. Therefore, we advice you to test it on a volunteer. It goes as follows:
- Write down your core message with the tips explained before.
- Ask a volunteer to help you to improve it. Say your message out loud. Few tips that might help the volunteer to advice you:
- Trust your gut. If the core message makes you ask: can you repeat it?, it is a sign that there is still some work to be done. Does the core message start a conversation about the Big Idea? Then you are on the right track.
- Reproduce the sentence. Usually the best core messages are frased by outsiders.
